Pork Chops with Garlic and Wine

The makings of the meal: ( I got this receipe from the Pioneer Woman )

Pork Chops ( I get the pork chops from Costco. They are with out bone and thick so I cut them in half for more to serve )

Olive Oil & Butter

Peeled Garlic Cloves

Red Wine

Balsamic Vinegar

Beef Broth

Bay Leaves

Salt & Pepper

Salt and Pepper both sides of the Pork Chops. Then sear them in a heavy skillet with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over high heat. You don’t need to cook them all the way through at this stage; The goal is to get as much color on both sides as possible.

Remove the Pork Chops to a plate and set them aside for a bit.

Reduce the heat to medium-high and throw in the peeled garlic cloves. Stir the garlic around and cook it for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until the garlic starts getting nice and golden brown and begins to soften. Then pour in a good amount of Red Wine.

Throw in a Bay Leaf, then let it bubble up and become nice and violent.

Let it reduce for several minutes. You want the garlic to continue to cook and soften a bit.

Then throw in pork chops and some beef broth! Arrange them in the skillet so that they’re swimming in the sauce a bit. Just let them set in there and continue to cook. The juices from the pork will become a part of the sauce and the flavor. Drizzle in a tablespoon or so of balsamic. Then let the chops simmer for another couple of minutes.

When the sauce is starting to reduce and thicken. Take the pork chops out of the skillet.

Let the sauce continue to bubble. Reducing the sauce is the key! Work the garlic around and make sure it’s soft enough to easily cut with a knife. Fell free to splash in a little more beef broth if the sauce needs a tiny bit more liquid.

At the very end, throw in a tablespoon of butter.

Add a small amount of salt and pepper. Stir to make an awesome sauce.

Arrange the pork chops on a plater or what ever you have. Then pour the whole skillet of sauce over the pork chops, garlic and all. You can also sprinkle the top with a little chopped parsley or sliced green onions if you think it needs a little green.  It is so awesome! My family loves it 🙂  You can serve it with mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, white rice, and of course some awesome garlic bread.
